The Dominion and the Exiles cannot just get along, they cannot be friends, and they cannot give peace a chance. So the testing for WildStar thus far has kept them separated, with both sides testing on different weekend. But according to patch notes released today by Carbine Studios, the upcoming test is starting a riot, letting both factions loose in the same playground. The notes include a request that testers look into the game’s setup for potential griefing hotspots to ensure that they’re fixed before launch rather than remain a spot of constant sorrow.
So is this patch just sporting the one change? Oh, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Even if we disregard the ability and build changes outlined, the patch introduces rated battlegrounds and arenas for the game’s universal soldiers. There are also improvements to the housing interface, the introduction of the not-yet-functional tradeskill talent UI, and an expansion of quickslot abilities. And even if you’re not in the testing and can’t go your own way, there’s plenty to make you wonder.
I’ll be watching this closely for signs that their economy will be messed with and blamed on the bots. I hope it doesn’t happen but if one thing is done that harms the players being able to get in game currency my suspicions about other games produced by NCsoft will have been confirmed. We’re watching NCsoft.
On a side note, yeah this is 2013 griefing doesn’t need to take place anymore if you guys want to grief someone get diamond armor and some mods and fly around in Minecraft ganking people. Leave the mmo’s to the adults.
Removing griefing hotspots? What the fuck, I love zones, areas or towns, where word gets around that it’s a popular PvP spot. Tarren Mill in Soutshore and Nesingwary’s Camp in WoW were both some of the best times in WPvP I’ve had in any MMO. I mean, what’s the point in two factions if you’re going to separate them to a degree where you never cross paths? There are such things as PvE servers for those that don’t like that type of PvP, and I know it’s inevitable that you’ll get whiners who choose to willingly roll on a PvP server and then bitch about getting ganked when it’s to be expected, I’ll reserve total judgement, I just hope random WPvP hotspots will still exist at launch.
